For The Day

Once only meant to be a side-project by members of Sheridan, Cleansweep and Engrave FOR THE DAY started practising in February 1999. After the first show in June, it soon became obvious that they had too much joy in playing together not to make it a full-time band. After current guitar player Roland joined the band in summer 2000, song-writing and playing shows on a regular base was finally introduced to the band's life.

After a well-circulated demo CD-R (about 670 copies made), a tour with (label-)mates Atrox and dozens of more shows FOR THE DAY recorded their debut full-length "Love Isn't Brains, Children..." for Rockstar Records in October 2001. The recordings were done by Menno Bakker at legendary Bunts Studio (NRA, ManLiftingBanner, Seein Red, Mainstrike, True Blue, Reaching Forward...).

In May they're gonna hit the road for a tour with Cologne's Emo Punkers Nothing In Common. Make sure to check them out then or at any of their other shows (as announced on the FTD website)!

FOR THE DAY's music may be compared to and is influenced by bands such as Jawbreaker, Hot Water Music, Leatherface, Samiam, All or Dag Nasty (Four On The Floor era). If you need to label their style try "Emo Punk".

"We're trying to be part of a sound that guided us, that led our hearts!"

(quoted from the lyrics to the song "Heritage")
